On November 2018 SIETAR Italia has invited professional and amateur photographers to tell what it means to “feel Italian” today. The call for pictures “Feeling Italian” was open until 6th of January 2019.
220 photographers have responded to this call, and SIETAR Italia has received about 600 images with explanatory comments. Through the photographic language, the authors proposed different readings of an Italy in transformation in a global context, in terms of behaviors, customs and values, and, at the same time, of a country linked to traditions and elements of continuity with the past.
A Jury composed by nine experts members in the field of photography, visual communication and interculture evaluated the 600 photographs, based on criteria of consistency with the objectives of the competition and using both, artistic and intercultural criteria. The judges have identified 3 winners and a total of 24 photographic projects (comprising 89 pictures) that more than others have been able to return a narrative, sensitive to grasp the traits of Italianess, with attention to interculturality.
